Since 1978 – long before the term “integrative medicine” became popular– the focus of Judith Perlman’s life and work has been to help herself and others to achieve a state of mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being by integrating the wisdom of both Western and Eastern medical sciences and philosophical beliefs..
Early in the 1970's Judith was a certified yoga instructor. For the past 30 years she has embraced Eastern philosophy and spiritual practices. From the late 1970’s to the present, Judith has focused on transformational psychology. Early in her career, in addition to her private practice, she conducted a successful research project to teach hospital nurses to reduce stress through meditation, relaxation and visualization strategies. She also developed Take Charge, an integrative wellness program for individuals and families facing catastrophic illness.
In 1991, after relocating to Chicago, Judith re-established her private practice and joined the Cancer Wellness Center in Northbrook. In her 13 years as part of the Center’s clinical team, Judith facilitated support groups, conducted workshops for participants and professionals, and counseled individuals, couples and families. She was the originator and the first Coordinator of Professional Education, and she later researched, developed and conducted the Center’s first Spirituality and Healing Programs. |
